Barrie police investigate baby death
The Barrie Police Homicide Unit is investigating the death of an infant, which is believed to have occurred on Monday, July 30, 2017.
On Wednesday, August 9, 2017, a local Doctor’s office received a telephone call from a woman stating she had given birth out of hospital and never received medical assistance.
The Barrie Police were contacted to check on the well-being of the female, and further investigation led to South Simcoe Police Service locating the female at an address on McCormick Drive in the town of Innisfil. Also located at that location was the body of an infant male.
A 42-year-old Innisfil woman has been charged with; Neglecting to Obtain Assistance in Child Birth and Concealing the Body of a Child. The woman will appear in a Barrie bail court on Thursday, August 10, 2017.
A forensic post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
