UPDATE: Over the past 36 hours, all of the trash alluded to in the following story, has been cleaned up off of Lake Simcoe. One fish hut operator took responsibility, and posted an apology on Facebook. Good news !
The ice fishing season is over in Ontario, but some remnants of the sport are still visible on Lake Simcoe.
Conservation officers are investigating a substantial amount of garbage, left out on the ice from ice fishers and hut owners.
It ranges from propane tanks, to buckets and fishing gear, and even bags of human waste.
It looks like at least one commercial hut operator is being investigated.
Locals say most who venture out are very responsible, but it only takes a few to make a mess of the lake.
Most ice fishermen have packed up for the season, but on Lake Simcoe, even though the huts are gone a big mess has been left behind. Roger Klein explains. https://t.co/FY246SxCn9
