UPDATE To 'Horror' on Hwy. 69 -- Multiple deaths
OPP say that an SUV crossed the centre line and crashed into the oncoming tractor trailer. The car burst into flames upon impact and all the occupants in the SUV died. Police are investigating as to how many people were inside the car at the time of the crash.
The crashed happened south of the Shawanaga River Bridge. The truck driver was not injured.
We have reports that there has been more than one fatality, in a horrific crash along a stretch of Highway 69 near Parry Sound.
The West Parry Sound Detachment of the OPP are investigating, and have released no new details since last night, but say officers were called to the two-vehicle crash on in Shawanaga Township, around 4 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday).
The report suggests the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer, and went on to say there were multiple deceased persons as a result. Highway 69 was closed for hours, but re-opened early this morning.
The crash is still under investigation. Two OPP collision reconstructionists are assisting.
