They’re now calling it a one-in-a-thousand-year event, as tropical storm Harvey continues to batter coastal Texas with a deluge of water.
It came to shore as a category 4 hurricane, as promised on the weekend, downing trees, power lines, and flimsy buildings.
Up to 300 thousand people were without hydro at the height of the storm.
But now, forecasters say Harvey is feeding off itself, refuelling with the waters of the Gulf, getting stronger, and promising to dump another four days worth of rain in the Houston area, where many highways have already disappeared and have become boating lanes for rescue operations.
Damage is already estimated at 40 billion dollars so far and mounting daily.
President Trump will visit the area tomorrow.
Canadians are keeping the people of Texas in our thoughts – we’re ready to offer any assistance needed to help recover from this disaster.
