Penetanguishene hospital site to close
Georgian Bay General Hospital is closing its Penetanguishene site a year from now. The hospital’s Interim President and CEO Paul Davies, says the majority of the building is empty, and rental income doesn’t come close to meeting the operating costs. The building is also in need of major repairs to its roof and heating system.
The Penetanguishene site houses a dialysis unit which will be relocated elsewhere in the community. Several non profit organizations and the GBGH finance department also have space in the building but will find new homes as well.
The building will be decommissioned in September of 2018.
