A smoke alarm saved a woman’s life in Gravenhurst Thursday morning when a fire broke out in a house on Highway 11, south of Kilworthy Road. A release from Gravenhurst Fire, says the flames fully enveloped a bedroom and had spread to an adjoining kitchen and dining room area, but the woman inside managed to get out with her two pets. The home sustained extensive fire and heat damage estimated at $ 75,000. The cause is under investigation but is not considered suspicious.
