400,000 Kidde smoke alarms have been recalled because they might not alert you in the event of smoke or a fire.

The dual sensor alarms were sold at stores across Canada and the US as well as through online retailers like Amazon. During the manufacturing of the alarms, a yellow cap left on them can cover one of the two sensors resulting the alarms being ineffective in doing their one job.

There have been no reports of any injuries. 40,000 of the affected devices are in Canada. Kidde’s website has more information here.
