The 10th Annual Meridian Women of Excellence awards were handed out April 17th at a gala night in Midland that recognized North Simcoe women who have achieved success in their workplace, while helping to make their community a better place to live work and play.

Congratulations to all the Women of Distinction who were nominated.

The award for Female Entrepreneur went to Sue Sandy, a business owner (Bayshore Variety, a restaurant, arcade and B&B) from Christian Island.

Lorna Tomlinson, retired Executive Director of Wendat Community Programs was recognized as the Woman of Business.

The Heart and Soul award was presented to Ronda-Lynne Weisner, owner of the Weisner Centre for Health and Wellness and founder of the Confidence over Circumstance program which collects hygiene products for local food banks.

Indigenous artist and musician ShoShonna Kish (Digging Roots) was the Keynote speaker – and also performed the “Strong Woman” song for the appreciative crowd.
